My name is Ella and I am an art foundation student living in Oxford. I use collage using paper from magazines to create my designs. I then scan them in to the computer to be manipulated and repeated to create original, bright and bold designs. For my final major project at college I decided to create fabrics that seem feminine and beautiful at a distance, however when you look closely they are embedded with sinister imagery of helicopters, soldiers and war scenes. I like the idea of taking a media that is very traditional, such as a wallpaper or fabric and subverting it. I have been very much inspired by the fantastic work of Timorous Beasties. However I do enjoy making simple pretty patterns too!
