Home Sweet Home - garden

By: ABScraft

Allium and Forget Me Not. Developing out of a project called Identity & Place for an exhibition during 2020 at The Willow Gallery Oswestry. The group show came at a timely moment. As the end of my contract approached with Wirral Council’s culture team, I was redeployed into the local authority’s response to the pandemic. Dealing with people in the hardest of circumstances daily, made me reflect on how precious it was to have a home. I created a standard house shape & garden from our shopping lists for home delivery from the local market and leaves from the eucalyptus tree in our garden. The glass display jars or lockdown bubbles are tea canisters, sealed with copper tape. The houses are stuffed with cut up plastic and edged with recycled wire. Inevitably when one looks back, there is also time to reflect on basic needs & what is needed to survive & thrive. I am also keen to reduce the negative impact on our surroundings through creative recycling. I always document my garden and like to share this to expand the happiness it creates for me.
